Working with us.
Every engagement runs the same way. Four steps in a fixed order, two ways to engage, and the questions procurement asks before the first invoice. One accountable owner from the first call to the last handover session, a team shaped to the job, and no layer between you and the people doing the work.
-
Step 1: Scoping call
No obligation
A conversation about the actual problem, not a pitch. You describe what is not working and what a good outcome looks like. We tell you honestly whether we can help and roughly what it would take.
-
Step 2: Discovery
Ends with a written scope
A short, focused look at the data, the systems and the constraint that is really in the way. Often that is a workshop or two, because the KPIs and requirements live in people's heads before they live anywhere written down. Discovery ends with a written scope: what will be built or reviewed, what it depends on, and how we will know it worked.
-
Step 3: Delivery
Fixed scope or retained
A fixed-scope build with a clear end point, or retained advisory on a standing basis, whichever fits the work. Either way, the person who scoped it does the work and reviews the result.
-
Step 4: Handover
Part of every scope
Documentation, plus hands-on sessions using it with the people who will own the result, not just reading about it, so it runs without us in the room. Handover is inside the scope, not an extra.
Two ways to engage
Fixed scope, or retained.
Most work is one or the other. Some is a fixed-scope build followed by a short retained period while your team takes ownership.
| Term | AFixed-scope build | BRetained advisory |
|---|---|---|
| Shape | A defined deliverable with an end point | A standing number of days per month |
| Suits | A migration, a forecasting pipeline, an integration | Model review, mentoring, a planning cadence |
| Starts | After discovery and a written scope | After a scoping call and a signed retainer |
| Reviewed | At the milestones written into the scope | At agreed points through the arrangement |
| Ends when | The deliverable is handed over | You decide, at an agreed notice period |
| Handover | Documented handover written into the scope | Continuous: notes and artefacts stay with your team |
Before procurement asks
The practical questions
How do we engage you?
Directly with Confidirect, or through a contracting arrangement your organisation already uses. The scoping call is where we work out which route is simplest for you.
What does it cost?
Rates depend on the shape of the work, and we would rather discuss them once that shape is clear than publish a number that fits nobody. What you will not pay for is a pyramid: a senior lead on every project, a team shaped to the job, and no partner, manager and graduate stacked on one piece of work. Ask in the scoping call and you will get a straight answer.
Remote or on site?
Both. We are based in New Zealand and work with clients across APAC and further afield. The practice was built inside remote-first teams, so working across time zones is not something new to adapt to.
What happens if you are unavailable, or when the engagement ends?
Every scope includes documentation and a working handover, so the result runs without us in the room. Review notes and planning artefacts stay with your team throughout, not at the end.
Next step
The scoping call is step one.
Time on the actual problem, whether that's a call or just a reply. You leave with an honest view of whether we can help, what shape the work would take, and what it would roughly cost.
