Advisory and embedded leadership
Retained or embedded senior data capacity for teams that need experience rather than headcount: model review, analyst mentoring and operational planning.
Most teams do not have a gap in effort. They have a gap in judgement: someone senior enough to say whether the model is right, whether the plan is realistic, and which of the twelve things on the list actually matters this quarter.
Advisory is that person, on a standing basis. It is the engagement most clients start with, and the one the other service lines exist to support.
What you get
Delivered, not recommended
- Regular review of models, forecasts and reporting before they reach decision-makers.
- Mentoring for analysts: code review, method, and how to present a number so it gets used.
- Operational planning cadence: capacity, allocation and the assumptions behind them, documented and revisited on a schedule.
- A straight answer about what the data supports, including when it is not the easy one.

Reporting infrastructure that a function relied on
New Zealand government · same engagement
An operational function needed reporting it could run on week to week, not proofs of concept that stalled after a demo.
The reporting became the infrastructure that the function relied on. The same person scoped, built, reviewed and maintained it throughout the five years.

How is this different from hiring a senior analyst or a head of data?
A hire is a multi-year commitment that has to clear headcount approval and onboarding. A retained advisor is productive within days, scoped to the period you need, and carries no obligation beyond it. Advisory can hold the role while you decide whether a permanent hire is warranted.
Do you work remotely or on site?
Both. I am based in New Zealand and work with clients across APAC and further afield. Time zone differences are not an obstacle for an experienced remote professional.
What happens when the engagement ends?
Handover is part of every engagement. Documentation, review notes and any planning artefacts stay with your team so the work runs without me in the room.
